Prayer and Enthusiasm Brings Favorable Results (Nehemiah: Chapter 2-4)

At last the wall was completed to half it's height around the entire city, for the people had worked with enthusiasm" Nehemiah 4:6

The story in Nehemiah chapter 2-4 took place after the Israelites had returned to Judah but were not making progress because they couldn't pray to God; they had no temple were they could make sacrifices unto God because the temple had be destroyed and the walls of Jerusalem had fallen. They couldn't build back the wall.

They were sad, lived in anguish though in their own towns. The only way out for them is to seek God's face, but how when they don't have a temple were they will pray and make sacrifices unto God. So they needed to urgently rebuild the temple and even the walls of the city to save them from enemies.

Then Nehemiah who was living in another place though also an Israelite but serving a king of another nation. He was a man after God's heart, he prayed. "O LORD, God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps His covenant of unfailing love with those who love Him and obey His commands, listen to my prayer! Look down and see me praying night and day for Your people Israel. I confess that we have sinned against you" Nehemiah 1:5-6. "Please grant me success today by making the king favorable to me. Put it into his heart to be kind to me" (1:11B)

And Nehemiah approached the king in Nehemiah 2:4-5 "The king asked, "Well, how can I help you? With a prayer to God of heaven, I replied, "If it pleases the king, and if you are pleased with me, your servant send me to Judah to rebuild the city where my ancestors were buried" and in verse 6: "The king, with the queen sitting beside him, asked, "How long will you be gone? When will you return? After I told him how long I would be gone, the king agreed to my request"

Dear reader, God will cause the heart of men to be opened favorably to you as you set out for that goal that will impact and change the world, in Jesus name.

And so Nehemiah asked the king for reference letters to the governors to allow him pass through their territory, he asked for timber to build the beams of the temple gates. And the king granted these requests, because the gracious hand of God was on him.

When God is with a man, there's no need that you have so long as it is sincere, He will give it to you because this will cause to give Him praise. That's what He feeds on, praise is His own food.

And so Nehemiah went back to begin the reconstruction of Jerusalem. But you know what? Once you start to make progress, enemies will be angry at you. Nehemiah 4:1 ("Sanballat was very angry when he learned that we were rebuilding the wall. He flew into rage and mocked the Jews..."

And Nehemiah prayed, he didn't fight Sanballat, he didn't even exchange words with him, because he had no business with him. Look at Nehemiah 4: 4 "Then I prayed "Hear us our God, for we are being mocked. May their scoffing fall back on their own heads, and may they themselves become captives in a foreign land! Do not blot out their sins, for they have provoked You to anger here in front of the builders"

Look my brother/sister, nothing stands like a sincere prayer. You don't need any pastor to pray for you. Just sincerely repent and God will answer your prayers.

God answered Nehemiah, yes He did. Nehemiah 4:6 "At last the wall was completed to half it's height around the entire city, for the people had worked with enthusiasm"

I am making progress daily in my career, in my family, in my business, my talent my health as I enthusiastically work daily towards achieving greatness. I shall succeed in Jesus name, amen.
